Sunsets are still my favorites!

A beautiful evening a few days back here in Oregon. My favorite time of day.

There is nothing like a great sunset to clear your head, ease your worries and make a bad day better. I have been using a Tamaron 10-24mm lens and it has been fabulous for catching the light and allowing me to get a nice wide angle. Still figuring out what the best average settings are, of course it varies with each scene, but f14, iso400 and varying shutter speeds seem to be a good starting point for this lens.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for these late evening or even early morning shots? Would love to hear some of your tricks or advice, or even just some feedback on my photos. 🙂

Next Step?

I would like to start trying some portraits, weddings and other events, and I have a question for you all. What lenses will I need to do weddings. I have a Nikon D7100 with a 35mm prime, 50mm prime and a Tamaron 10-24 wide angle. Are there any certain templates, or basic plans I should no about for weddings, and what should I charge to do my first one. Obviously I will advertise that I am a beginner and looking to build a portfolio and learn how to get better. I just need some advice!!! Thank you 🙂

Its been a challenge lately…

A little Chicago love
A little Chicago love

Well hello,

I have been wanting to post something here for weeks, but its been one of the busiest times in my life, and it has been a challenge to just keep up with my Instagram page and my other blog that has to do with why it is I have been so busy. I’m in school, which is imperative to my future plans. Not only is this school going to jumpstart my life into a new career in a new country, but it also is going to get me where I want to be photography wise, which is back to SE Asia. So for the month of February I am in Chicago Illinois, and I have been fortunate enough to be here for a blizzard, but I also have made it down to the loop area once to get some great city shots.

It was particularly challenging on both of these shoots because the snow was something I have never taken pictures in and getting the right exposure was tough. I threw out a ton of what I hoped would be great shots, but were completely over exposed. The other day was a bright sunny day, with reflection from the left over snow, in very contrasty areas of dark and light deep in the heart of the city. This was better than the whiteout of the blizzard though!Hope you like some of the images, and I will try hard to post more frequently, as photography is my number one passion in life, and I want to share it with you all!!!

Please check out my website too http://www.itsscottphotography.com as there are more photos there, also an option to buy prints too!! Or you can go straight to my store here. http://www.itsscottphotography.smugmug.com Thanks for looking!!!
